One of the first things worth noting about the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas is the sheer perfection of its location. Set right on the snowy white sands of Saadiyat Island, the luxurious getaway is less than half an hour’s drive from the nearest airport, minutes away from the Louvre Abu Dhabi and just a touch further to the posh shopping of The Galleria. The hotel’s proximity to many of the UAE capital’s must-see sites makes it a gem for those travellers who want it all; as it turns out, it is possible to have a vacation in an exciting city and a fabulous seaside holiday at the same time.
Just far away enough from the skyscrapers of downtown Abu Dhabi, the Park Hyatt is an oasis of serenity with verdant lawns, graceful architecture and – of course – the sea on its doorstep. 306 rooms, suites and villas continue the tranquil ambience, with subdued colour schemes and contemporary furnishings. The muted minimalist design is livened here and there by jewel-toned cushions and statement art pieces, and all accommodations have private outdoor spaces to take in the view – for this reason alone, it’s worth booking a room that looks toward the sea. The sprawling villas are even lovelier, with lava wave marble bathrooms, plunge pools in generously sized terraces and outdoor massage beds for effortless pampering.
Start your days early with a visit to the tantalizing breakfast buffet laid out in The Café. The hotel has a decent selection of eateries if you aren’t spending your days traipsing about the city, the nicest of which is The Park Bar & Grill. As the hotel’s signature restaurant, the dining room is elegant and the menu focuses on steak and seafood. The light and airy Beach House is a nice departure from the Bar & Grill’s sultry atmosphere; here you’ll find family-style Mediterranean cuisine and a robust wine list. The Library is an ultra-modern tea lounge set in shades of white, black and brilliant orange and stays open well after midnight, as does the trendy Park Bar.
Atarmia Spa perfectly blends the region’s modernity with its natural roots; treatment rooms of stone and marble feel both tranquil and mysterious. Stay for a while, or get a workout in with a visit to the fitness centre or lap pool before venturing beyond for guided wildlife walks or eco boat tours through the mangroves.
