Banyan Tree Samui is an all-villa resort, each villa with a private pool and the services of a villa host, making it an appealing choice for a luxury holiday on Koh Samui. Ensconced within a tropical jungle on a private bay in Lamai, it is also the kind of place that fits the bill if you like seclusion and lazing on the beach, day after day.

The location feels remote, yet the resort is just ten minutes away from the town of Lami by way of the resort’s shuttle service. And as the property is spread out over several terraces that cascade downhill towards the bay, there’s again a great feeling of space. Villas, themselves, are so well spread out amongst the gardens that it’s the norm to make use of the electric buggy service to get around.

All villas are very stylish, and along with a private pool, each has space for relaxing indoors as well as outdoors on the deck, for dining and lounging al fresco. Some of them come with ocean views, while Spa Sanctuary Pool Villas come with the added benefit of an open-air spa treatment area. And if you’re visiting with family or friends, the two-bedroom Family Pool Villas will suit.

The resort also has a main pool and, at 50 metres long, it’s great for a decent swim, while kids have their own pool as well as a children’s club for those aged 4 to 12 years old. Serious pampering can be found at the spa which features a rainforest hydrotherapy wellness experience with steam room, Rasul, ice fountain and vitality pool – and there’s a gym and yoga studio too.

Explore the bay with complimentary use of snorkelling equipment, stand-up paddle boards, windsurfs and kayaks. Or the resort can arrange a marine excursion aboard its private speedboat to take you on a diving adventure or a scenic cruise.

When you’re getting hungry, head to Sands which is great for a casual lunch beside the beach, while Saffron, the resort’s signature restaurant, is open just for dinner and serves fantastic Thai cuisine. For something extra special, book destination dining and enjoy a romantic meal for two in a location of your choosing, perhaps under a star-studded sky for the perfect holiday memory.
