Tucked discreetly amidst the towering coconut palms of picturesque Koh Phangan lies a unique tropical haven: Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas. Luxurious villas blend effortlessly into the breathtaking surrounds, where white sands and the soft roll of the water’s waves stretch before your villa. You’ll awaken early to breathtaking sunrises over the sea, preludes to days filled by yoga sessions, spa treatments, good food and some serious downtime.
Renowned for its monthly full-moon parties, boisterous night-long celebrations tied to the lunar calendar, Ko Pha Ngan draws revellers, backpackers mostly, to its southeastern peninsula, specifically to Sunrise Beach in Haad Rin. Luckily, Anantara Rasananda is as far away as you can get from that scene; it’s located on Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach, considered the island’s, and one of Southeast Asia’s, nicest.
The easiest way to get here is by speed-boat from Koh Samui, a 35-minute journey.
Plan to unwind upon arrival, as all spacious suites and villas have deep plunge pools either facing the sea or the delightful jungle garden and its lagoon.
Decorated in a modern Thai style with white walls, dark wood, thatched roofs, bamboo fences, carved gates, and wide patios and balconies, the buildings are surrounded by thick, tropical vegetation. To get around, you’ll need to traverse the wooden bridges across the lagoon with its giant Koi family.
Pampering spa treatments here come infused with tradition. The venue itself feels very holiday-like: several bungalows constructed on rocks above the forest floor make a welcoming sanctuary. They also offer pedicures and manicures.
Dining choices and venues are ample for such a small resort. The Edge 20 pool bar mixes a mean cocktail if you feel like unwinding before dinner. Following that, there’s Japanese cuisine at Yukinoya, the island’s first and only teppanyaki restaurant, or opt for Thai food at Bistro at the Beach.
Families can spread out in Two Bedroom Pool Villas which have larger outdoor living areas, perfect for kids who need to run off steam. Diversions for any age include diving, kayaking, paddleboarding, elephant trekking and cultural pursuits.
