AMERICAN AIRLINES FLAGSHIP FIRST
Flagship First B-777-300ER
New York / London September 2015
American Airlines Flagship First B-777-300ER serves as American’s flagship aircraft and offers the carrier’s most current version of its popular Flagship Suite in its first class cabin. In a surprising contrast to the tired offerings found in some premium cabins of US-based carriers, the Flagship Suite on this aircraft—which serves competitive, business-heavy routes such as New York to London and ultra-long-haul routes such as Dallas/Ft Worth to Hong Kong—provides an exceptionally good, first-class seat product.
Although the seat does not have the privacy doors found on some other new first class seats, it does provide seclusion and enables the traveler to pivot the seat away from the aisle to face the aircraft’s side windows. Passengers seated in the center seat pair can face each other should they wish, and dine comfortably, face-to-face, on their own throne rather than perched on a small ottoman which is sometimes the only option on other aircraft. The window seats enable the solo business traveler to work on a large table with lots of space for laptops and documents. While the carrier’s first class lounges at JFK and Heathrow are not particularly special, the inflight service was very, very good and the food and beverage service and entertainment programming were also commendable.
